                                                                    PHOTOSCAPE

~description~
-Photoscape includes everything from a file viewer to a photo editor, slide show creator, batch editor,     screen capture program, and more.
~what is PHOTOSCAPE and it's new version??..~
-Photoscape 3.5 is a free photo editing softwaredeveloped in Korea by Mooii Tech but not much is known about the developer or developers. This freeware photo editor has many useful features and especially for non-professionals taking photography a little more seriously. Photoscape is easy and quick to learn though it does take a little effort to understand the programs various features.
-Photoscape 3.5 is user friendly with many easy to use features. This photo editor supports JPEG, GIF, GNP and BMP images has also has a RAW converter to convert uncompressed images into JPEG format before editing. The main module in Photoscape is the Editor and also has the ability to combine multiple photos, create slideshows, split photos into multiple parts, and screen capture.
-For most users, the Editor module in Photoscape is the most useful and used to correct, enhance, and manipulate a photo's imagery. However, Photoscape's does not have a layer function to combine several images to make more exact image adjustments. The program and images load resonably fast on computers running on 1 GB of memory but at 2 GB, the speed is only 10%-20% faster.

Editing Module - Adjusting Brightness

There are times when we take photos that turn out to be darker than expected. For many non-professionals including myself, getting the correct brightness seems to be a common issue and the Editor module can correct the brightness of a photo. This is primarily done by adjusting the brightness and backlighting functions. Backlighting also helps to improve the depth of the image or images. Use the Darken button to achieve the opposite effect.

Editing Module - Adjusting Color

The Editor module can also enhance the colors on a photo by increasing the color saturation. Consequently the decloring mode has an opposite effect. The photo on the left (below) is the original, the colors in the center photo has be enhanced by using the Color Enhance button, and on the colors in the right photo has been reduced by using the Decolor button.

Color enhancement can also be improved by using the Contrast button, which basically improves the contrast between different colors. Using a combination of the Color Enhance and Contrast buttons can significantly improve the colors of a photo. How, you use the combinations of buttons depends on the photo effect that you want to achieve.

Editing Module - Converting to Monotone Colors

While most photos are in color, images in monotone can create an amzing effect on your photos. Use the Grayscale button to convert color photos into black & white and Sepia button to convert into sepia. You can also use the Colorize button to convert the photos into other shades of monotone colors including red, blue, green, and yellow.

Editing Module - Filters

A wide range of effects can be achieve under the Filter mode, which has several menus including blurring, tinting, creating lens flare, embossing, increasing and reducing image noise, and creating a reflection. The Filter mode also has menus for distorting images including creating a fish-eye, wave, and blurring effect.

One of the menus I find useful is the Region (Out of Focus) menu, where I can make adjustments to a specific area in a photo while not effecting other areas. Examples include sharpening, blurring, darkening, and brightening. This menu can also mantain a specific area in color while the rest in grayscale or sepia like the above photo on the right.

Editing Module - Curves

Under the Bright/Color button are menus called Curves. It took me sometime to understand the function or purpose of using Curves. The learning curve was slightly longer here and only after doing a little internet research and tinkering with the Curve menus..

Surprisingly, you can create some amazing color effects like those seen in professionally produced photos by using the Color, Saturation, and Luminance Curves. The top left photo is the original while the right is the same photo after using the Curves.

Editing Module - Cropping

I use cropping to bring an image nearer to the viewer or when removing unwanted images. Remember, cropping low resolution or small size photos (e.g. 640 x 480 pixels) signficantly reduce the sharpness of the cropped image. Cropping is easy and done by just clicking the Crop button and then dragging the pointer on the area of the photo to be cropped.

Editing Module - Creating Objects

Another useful feature is the Object button, which is quick to learn and simple to use. The features include creating text, inserting symbols, and bubbles onto the photo. Various text formats are available including Times New Roman, Arial, Tahoma, and Verdana. It can also bold, create italics, underline, shadow, and add color to the text, symbols, or bubbles.

Batch Editing Module

I prefer to edit photos individually but the Batch Editor module is available to make adjustments on several photos at once. Just drag and drop the photos for editing onto the canvas and then make the adjustments including resizing, color adjustments, sharpening, brightening, and darkening. My most frequent use of the Batch Editor is to resize my photos (smaller) at once for my blog and website.

Page Module

The Page module can combine several photos to make a collage and there are more 100 layouts available. To begin, choose the format of the layout (shown on the right) and then drag and drop the selected photos onto the canvas to make a collage. You can move and scale each photo in the collage as well as make adjustments to the overall layout including size, rounding corners, and framing.

Combine Module

The Combine module is similar in funcion as the Page module. However, in the Combine module you can arrange multiple photos in a single row or column as well as in checkered boxes comprising of multiple rows and columns. You can also resize the combined photos, create outer margins, and edit them in the Edit module.

AniGif Module

The AniGif module allows the user to create simple slideshows. However, the module cannot create special effect's such as fading-out of a photo and fading-in of another photo - it's just simple switching from one photo to another. However, the user can adjust the length of time each photo is to be displayed on the slideshow.

Print Module

Users can use Photoscape's Print module to print directly from their printer or better still a photo printer. It is a simple process of dragging and dropping the photo or photos onto the canvas for printing. The user can select the size of the printed photo and the module will indicate the number of photos that can be printed on a single sheet of paper i.e. the smaller the photo, more photos can be printed on a single sheet of paper.
